A clean sand filter is the first line of defense against unwanted particles and microorganisms that can cloud your pool water or even cause health issues. A dirty sand filter will not be able to catch all of the particles or microorganisms which will make the water cloudy or murky, increase pressure gauge readings, cause persistent algae blooms, slow water flow, and the need for constant backwashing. When the salt cell is dirty, it can result in reduced chlorine production, leading to poor water quality and an increased risk of algae and bacteria growth. It is suggested that you clean your salt cell every three months. In doing this, you will maintain efficiency, water quality, and help extend the lifespan of the cell.
